Aliyu reacts as ICPC probes REA

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched an investigation into the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). Managing Director Aliyu Abba expressed his welcome for the probe, stating that it is part of REA's efforts to enhance accountability and transparency. Aliyu highlighted that as the agency handles larger programs, partnerships, and investments, it bears a greater responsibility to ensure its internal frameworks are fully accountable, transparent, and suitable for its purpose.

He urged for greater collaboration between the commission and REA's Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU). "Transparency is strongest when an organization is willing to open its systems to external scrutiny, identify operational gaps, and actively implement corrective measures," Aliyu stated. He assured that the collaboration with the ICPC and ACTU would be an ongoing framework, ensuring continuous evaluation and improvement of the systems driving rural electrification across the country.
