Al Ansari stresses diplomacy, dialogue to address regional crises

Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, a prominent advisor to the Prime Minister and official spokesperson for Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in a dialogue session titled "Qatar's Strategic Role in a Changing Middle East" during the 2026 Concordia Annual Summit in New York. The event took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Al Ansari stressed that Qatar remains committed to diplomatic efforts, working in coordination with regional and international partners to find peaceful resolutions to regional crises and to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy in order to promote security and stability in the area. He underscored the need for a sustainable diplomatic solution to the ongoing conflict with Iran and highlighted Qatar's consistent stance on ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the importance of coordination among Gulf Cooperation Council states to maintain regional security.

The official also affirmed the robust strategic partnership between Qatar and the United States, emphasizing the importance of continued defense and security cooperation between the two nations to bolster stability in the region. In the context of the Gaza Strip, Al Ansari highlighted Qatar's ongoing efforts, in collaboration with Egypt and the United States, to implement the ceasefire agreement and stressed the necessity of all parties adhering to their commitments to alleviate the humanitarian situation in the Strip.

He also cautioned against Israeli actions aimed at altering the status quo in the West Bank, warning of the potential threat these measures pose to prospects for achieving peace and stability in the region.
