After Sandhya Theatre stampede, Nani seeks CM’s permission to attend The Paradise premiere

Two years ago, a tragic stampede at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman named Revathy during a showing of the Telugu action film Pushpa 2: The Rule. In a heartfelt social media message, superstar Nani, who stars in the film, reached out to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, asking for permission to attend the premiere of his own directorial project, The Paradise, which was set to open on September 23 at RTC X Roads.

Nani expressed his love for cinema and his desire to share the experience with the audience at RTC X Roads, the very same venue where the tragic incident had occurred.

Responding to Nani's appeal on social media, Revanth Reddy acknowledged the actor's respect for safety guidelines and his commitment to the film. However, the Chief Minister directed Nani to submit an official application to the local police station to ensure seamless crowd management and public safety. Nani appreciated the response and confirmed his willingness to abide by any final decisions made by the police department.

If safety or crowd-management concerns arose, Nani pledged to respect the decision and skip attending the premiere. The film, set in the 1980s slums of Secunderabad, follows the story of a marginalized tribe facing systemic oppression, with Nani and Srikanth Odela reuniting after their successful collaboration in Dasara. The ensemble cast also includes Sonali Kulkarni, Raghav Juyal, Mohan Babu, and Kayadu Lohar.
