Abrar Ahmed Siblings: A Closer Look at the Cricketer’s Family Tree

Abrar Ahmed is a Pakistani international cricketer renowned for his right-arm leg spin bowling and mysterious variations like the googly and carrom ball. Born on September 11, 1998, in Karachi, Sindh, he stands six feet tall and bats right-handed in the lower order. An ethnic Pashtun belonging to the Swati tribe, his family hails from Shinkiari, a village near Mansehra in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, before moving to Karachi.

As the youngest of eight siblings—five brothers and three sisters—Abrar's younger brother Shahzad Khan, an erstwhile fast bowler for Pakistan's domestic circuit, was among the first to recognize his talent in tape-ball cricket. Another brother, Sajid Ahmed, shared stories of the young Abrar's passion for the game, noting his habit of analyzing bowling techniques during matches.

The sisters' names remain relatively unknown, and the family typically maintains a private personal life. Ahmed's professional cricket career commenced in domestic leagues, debuting for Karachi Kings in the 2017 Pakistan Super League and later playing for Karachi Whites, Sindh, Islamabad United, and Quetta Gladiators. His first-class debut occurred on November 20, 2020, for Sindh in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

Impressive performances, such as leading wicket tallies in domestic competitions, propelled him to the Pakistan Shaheens team. His international debut as a Test player came against England in December 2022, where he delivered notable performances, including figures of 7 for 114 and 4 for 120 in the first and second innings respectively.

He further represented his country in Tests against New Zealand and other matches, and made his T20I and ODI debuts against New Zealand and Zimbabwe respectively in April 2024. By mid-2026, Ahmed had amassed a significant number of appearances—around 10 Tests, 19 ODIs, and 38 T20Is—collecting considerable wickets, particularly in the white-ball formats.

Despite facing injuries like a back stress fracture and sciatica issues, he remains a key player for Quetta Gladiators in the PSL and other franchise sides. His accolades include claiming a ten-wicket match haul on his Test debut against England, the first Pakistani bowler to achieve this since 1995, and another five-wicket haul against New Zealand.

In limited-overs cricket, he has been outstanding with figures like 4 for 27 against South Africa in an ODI, earning Player of the Match, and 1 for 8 in four overs during the 2025 Asia Cup against Sri Lanka. Ahmed has been among Pakistan's leading wicket-takers in T20Is and ODIs since his international debuts. He contributed to Pakistan's runner-up finish in the 2025 Asia Cup and was selected as a key spinner for major tournaments such as the 2024 T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy.

Domestically, he has recorded multiple five-wicket hauls and high wicket tallies in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and PSL seasons.
