72-Year-Old Pokémon Collector Arrested After Illegally Tracking Woman Who Restocked Local Stores

In Cleveland, 72-year-old Paul Kubasta was arrested for illegally tracking a woman who restocked local stores with Pokémon cards, according to prosecutors. Kubasta admitted to following the woman's delivery route with an electronic tracker he secretly placed on her vehicle, in order to see where the new card boxes were dropped off, as reported by Fox8.

Kubasta pleaded no contest to the charge and did not comment further when approached by the press. It is assumed that Kubasta planned to visit each store and buy up the stock as soon as it was placed on sale. A Spytech GPS tracker was discovered by the driver while dropping cards at Walmart, allowing Kubasta to track her movements in real-time via a linked smartphone app.

While Kubasta's actions went beyond simply sharing information via social media or receiving tips from store owners, his behavior was also "creepy." Sentencing is pending, but Kubasta could face up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. The Pokémon card release has faced long lines, fights, and frustration for fans, but the latest development is that Kubasta's illegal tracking adds to the problems.
