2 pelajar didakwa buli junior di Papar

In a recent court case in Papar, two high school students were brought before the Children's Court on October 29th to face charges for bullying a junior student at their school last year. The 16 and 17-year-old teenagers admitted their guilt to Judge Zuraini Ali Musa in a closed hearing. The court then set October 29th as the date for a rescheduled trial to await a report on the children's moral character.

Both students were subsequently released on bail, with RM3,000 bail for each, without a deposit, as they await the rescheduled trial date. Assistant District Attorney Kareena Kaur Gill represented the prosecution, while both students were not represented by lawyers. Lawyer Nurshalilah Fauzan Mailin held the observation notebook for one of the juvenile defendants.

Berita Harian reported that the 17-year-old was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury to two junior students. Meanwhile, the 16-year-old was charged under Section 507B of the Penal Code for the offense of beating a junior student. In September of last year, it was reported that a Form Two student at a school in Kinarut was bullied by a senior student, believed to be due to the victim's lateness to the dormitory late at night.

The incident was reported to the police at IPD Papar on September 9th. Education Department Director Raisin Saidin later stated that the school had taken immediate action in accordance with the applicable disciplinary regulations, including suspending the perpetrator and providing counseling sessions.
