‘100% placement guarantee’ is not just profile forwarding, MBA graduate wins Rs 1 lakh

A Punjab consumer commission ruled that a private education company cannot claim a "100% placement guarantee" and use it to simply forward a student's profile to employers for interviews. The Gurdaspur District Consumer Commission ordered the company to refund Rs 84,960 to an MBA graduate, paying Rs 10,000 for mental distress and Rs 5,000 for legal costs.

The student enrolled in an AI course after seeing the advertisement promising "100% guaranteed placement" but the company failed to provide the promised placement, despite multiple follow-ups. The commission held that the company could not prove meeting their commitment without proof of an accepted job offer or joining report, stating that recruitment attempts alone do not equal successful placement.
