US President Trump met Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen at the UN General Assembly in New York to sign the agreement. Trump claims the deal grants the US "permanent control over security and all other needs in Greenland," while Denmark asserts that the agreement respects the kingdom's sovereignty and Greenland's right to self-determination.
