Vote now in Sept. 14-19 South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week poll

Voting for the South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week poll is now open for the period of September 14 to September 19, with no limit on the number of votes that can be cast. The poll is set to close at 5 p.m. ET on Friday, September 25. The nominees for the award come from eight coverage area schools, and they are listed in alphabetical order by school.

Levi Schlagel, from Goshen boys cross country, secured first place in the Class AAA race at the New Prairie Invitational on September 19 with a personal best time of 16:27.05. Keely Lauver from Mishawaka Marian girls soccer scored the only goal as her team won the Northern Indiana Conference championship by defeating Penn 1-0. Trinity Academy's Annika Lute triumphed in the Class A race at the New Prairie Invitational with a time of 19:42.35.

Maddie Brough from Mishawaka Marian girls golf advanced to the regional round after a round of 102 in the Penn Sectional. Braden Bachmann from New Prairie boys cross country claimed the championship of the Class AA race at the same event, with a time of 16:07.18. Amery Rost from Northridge girls golf led her team to a third consecutive sectional championship, finishing second overall in the Northridge Sectional with a score of 79.

Kathy Lee from Penn girls golf steered her team to the sectional title, shooting a 83 and finishing second overall. Anna McCullough from Penn volleyball recorded 16 kills and six digs in a 3-0 victory over conference rival Mishawaka Marian, adding two blocks and two service aces to her performance. Taylynn Johnson from Plymouth girls golf reached the regional round of the state tournament by placing fourth overall in the Warsaw Sectional with a score of 80.

Lucy Dunham from South Bend Saint Joseph girls golf secured individual medalist honors in the Penn Sectional with a round of 81, contributing to her team's second-place finish.
