Visakhapatnam Collector tells officials to remain alert amid heavy rain warning

Visakhapatnam's District Collector, M. Abhishikth Kishore, has instructed officials to stay vigilant due to anticipated heavy rains in the region over the next three days, caused by a depression in the Bay of Bengal. The officials have been directed to promptly address waterlogging and prepare relief teams, rescue personnel, vehicles, and equipment as needed.

Departments are required to collaborate to maintain continuous power, clean drinking water, and sanitation services. The collector also emphasized keeping the public informed with regular alerts and ensuring the smooth operation of control rooms. Advance plans have been made to relocate residents in low-lying areas to safer locations, and pregnant women close to delivery have been advised to seek medical attention early.

Control rooms have been activated at the Collectorate and division-level centers and will remain operational for three days. The collector stressed the importance of preventive measures to prevent loss of life and livestock, and directed officials to continuously monitor the situation and remain alert.
