Vasai, September 22, 2026 - The Kashimira Police have dismantled a gang accused of luring individuals with fraudulent schemes promising triple returns. Three suspects, including two women, have been apprehended. Authorities allege the group operated from the Golden Retreat Hotel in Kajupada. On September 7, 2026, the accused reportedly displayed a method of allegedly washing Rs 500 notes coated with a black-colored chemical to transform them into fake currency.
Victims were reportedly convinced that by handing over legitimate currency, they would receive three times the amount. Following a tip-off, police conducted a raid at the hotel premises on September 7 and arrested Amol Vasant Bhandar (43), Chaitrali Shankar Chakraborty (27), and Nisha Sunil More (41). Police seized 195 Rs 500 notes, chemicals, and other suspected counterfeit currency materials, valued at approximately Rs 1.36 lakh.
