All 75 state-run old age homes now conduct weekly health check-up camps, where teams of doctors perform blood pressure, sugar, eye, and general health examinations. Necessary medications are provided free of charge as needed. Chief Medical Officers are responsible for overseeing these weekly health check-up camps.
In addition to medical care, the Social Welfare Department is promoting mental and social well-being. Old age homes receive amenities such as clean drinking water, television access, and libraries for recreation. Yoga and meditation sessions are also offered to keep residents active and positive.
As of now, 6,607 senior citizens live in these 75 old age homes.
