Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate a new Government Women’s Shelter in Gorakhpur on Wednesday, costing Rs 8 crore 5 lakh 42 thousand. The shelter, near the Agriculture Department's Seed Godown in Chargawan, will house 100 women and feature residential facilities, a creche, a kitchen, and various administrative and operational spaces.
Additionally, it includes a library to support residents' study and knowledge enhancement. The facility is dedicated to providing safe shelter and necessary support to women affected by domestic violence, distress, or social and family-related difficulties.
Before the inauguration, Adityanath will inspect the under-construction Government Observation Home (Juvenile), also near the Seed Godown. This Rs 14 crore 87 lakh facility will accommodate 100 juveniles and ensure their care, protection, education, health, and rehabilitation in a safe, child-friendly environment. The home will operate under the Juvenile Justice Board after the juveniles are produced before it for orders under the law.
During his visit to Gorakhpur, Adityanath will also attend the seven-day Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at Gorakhnath Temple, marking significant anniversaries of two Brahmalin Mahants. Renowned storyteller Rajendradass will narrate the Katha to devotees.
