Uba Sani Approves N3.659 bn For Retirees, Pays N21.455bn In Three Years

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has allocated ₦3.659 billion for pension, gratuity, and death benefits to retirees and families of deceased public servants across the state and Local Government Services. Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, revealed this approval in a statement, noting that it covers 1,339 beneficiaries under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) and Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

The total pension payments by the Uba Sani administration have reached ₦21.455 billion so far, benefiting 9,683 individuals since the administration began in May 2023.

The latest approval will provide ₦515 million to 210 Local Government retirees through the Defined Benefit Scheme. Under the Contributory Pension Scheme, ₦3.144 billion will be distributed among 1,129 beneficiaries, including 402 retirees from the State Service and 727 from Local Government Councils. This breakdown of the beneficiaries aligns with the broader commitment of the administration to systematically address outstanding pension liabilities.

Maiyaki emphasized that this intervention demonstrates the administration's dedication to resolving pension debts and enhancing the sustainability of Kaduna State's pension system. By doing so, the government aims to uphold fiscal discipline, transparency, and accountability while establishing a robust framework for meeting pension obligations. The Governor remains committed to ensuring retirees and families of deceased public servants receive their rightful entitlements with dignity.
