UAE detects 377 fake Emiratisation cases at 266 private companies in first half of the year

The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced on Tuesday that it identified 377 instances of fake Emiratisation in 266 private sector companies during the first half of 2026. The ministry is taking legal action against those responsible, using field inspections and a digital monitoring system to detect these violations.

Fake Emiratisation involves hiring a UAE citizen for employment purposes without providing genuine job opportunities. Companies found to be in breach of Emiratisation rules face fines of Dh20,000 to Dh100,000 per case, with potential prosecution for severe violations. Non-compliant entities must also contribute financially to Emiratisation targets and risk being ranked lowest on the ministry's monitoring system.

UAE nationals found guilty of the same offense will forfeit their Nafis benefits, while the ministry will recover any previously granted benefits. Despite the prevalence of fake Emiratisation cases, the ministry emphasizes that these breaches are not a significant issue in the UAE labor market. The national Emiratisation quota mandates private sector companies with 50 or more employees to achieve 10% Emiratisation in skilled positions by the end of 2026, with a mid-year review to ensure progress.

From July 12, non-compliant companies will face monthly fines of Dh10,000 for each unfilled skilled position requiring an Emirati citizen. Additionally, a minimum salary of Dh6,000 per month is now required for Emirati employees. These measures aim to bolster the participation of Emirati professionals in the private sector and contribute to the UAE's economic growth.
