Two Buxar teachers dismissed after inquiry finds merit in sexual abuse claims

The Bihar Education Department dismissed two teachers from a government school in Buxar on Monday after finding merit in allegations of sexual abuse against female students, circulation of inappropriate videos, and threats via audio messages, according to officials. The teachers were arrested earlier this month following a departmental inquiry into complaints dating back to January.

An assistant teacher and a regular teacher were suspended after a complaint alleged that minors had been abused over an extended period. They were arrested on September 2 following an inquiry that found the allegations credible. The two educators will be barred from future government employment, as per Rule 14 (XI) of the Bihar Government Servants (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 2005.

The teachers are accused of abusing students and circulating illicit videos, with police investigating potential involvement of former pupils. The girl victim was enrolled at the school during the alleged incidents. Law enforcement is also examining the possibility that additional victims may exist. The school principal's name was removed from the State Teacher Award 2026 on September 5 following Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari's directive for robust legal and departmental action.

The minister emphasized that schools must prioritize student safety, discipline, and the teacher-student relationship, warning that individuals found guilty of misconduct involving students would face no leniency.
