KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — Police have refuted claims that a Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) accompanied a vehicle suspected of carrying stolen cables in Kampung Tasik Tambahan, Ampang, according to the Sinar Harian report. The director of Bukit Aman's Criminal Investigation and Community Safety Department, Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin, stated that a cable theft suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident, debunking rumors of a police collusion with the thieves.

Noor Hisam clarified that the MPV's actions were based on information received from the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters operations room and that its beacon lights were activated per standard operating procedures (SOP) while performing its duties. He explained that the MPV's conduct was a response to a public complaint and that a single suspect had been apprehended for further proceedings.

The situation was initially brought to light by closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from a nearby residence that circulated on social media platforms, leading to speculation that the police vehicle was escorting a cable-laden vehicle. Noor Hisam's clarification followed the viral video, which prompted various reactions from social media users concerning the police vehicle's presence and behavior during the incident.
