‘The View’: Sunny Hostin Upsets Co-Hosts by Revealing She Was Holdout Juror Who Prevented Guilty Verdict in Daniel Rakowitz Case

Former federal prosecutor and current co-host Sunny Hostin made a surprising revelation during a recent episode of "The View." During a discussion about the case of Lindsay Clancy, who was acquitted of killing her children due to postpartum psychosis, Hostin revealed that she was the holdout juror in another high-profile case. The case in question involved Daniel Rakowitz, who was known as "The Butcher of Tompkins Square Park" and murdered his roommate, Monika Beerle.

According to Hostin, she was the juror who insisted on a not guilty verdict based on Rakowitz's insanity plea. She explained that she saw clearly that Rakowitz was psychotic and that it was his mental state that led him to commit the heinous acts. Hostin recounted the details of the gruesome murder, including how Rakowitz dismembered Beerle's body, boiled the parts, and even fed some of her remains to homeless people in Tompkins Square Park.

Despite the shock and anger expressed by her co-hosts, Hostin remained steadfast in her belief that Rakowitz was not criminally responsible due to his insanity. Rakowitz is currently still in a mental institution for treatment, which Hostin noted is a "different type of prison" compared to a regular prison.
