Thane Internal Ring Metro To Connect Mumbai, Bhiwandi And Kalyan With 29-Km Corridor, 22 Stations

The proposed Thane Internal Ring Metro project, led by Maha Metro and backed by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, is set to revolutionize regional transit in Thane. This ambitious initiative, approved by the Central Government in September 2024 with an estimated budget of ₹12,200 crore, will stretch for 29 kilometers, connecting Thane to key destinations like Mumbai, Bhiwandi, and Kalyan.

The project features a 26-kilometer elevated stretch combined with a 3-kilometer underground segment, including 22 stations - 20 elevated and 2 underground.

The enhanced plan incorporates dedicated interchange points to connect with both existing and future regional networks. Commuters will benefit from direct links to Metro Line 4 (Wadala–Kasarvadavali) near Dongripada, facilitating a smooth journey towards Mumbai, and an interchange with Metro Line 5 (Kapurbawdi–Bhiwandi–Kalyan) near Balkum, providing effortless travel to Bhiwandi and Kalyan.
