Telangana Ministers leave for Karnataka to seek release of water to Jurala

Telangana ministers Vakiti Srihari, Jupally Krishna Rao, and several MLAs have journeyed to Bengaluru to meet with Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Their mission is to request the release of water from Jurala reservoir. The delegation aims to negotiate a phased release to ensure irrigation and drinking water needs in the Palamuru region are met.

Srihari, the Animal Husbandry Minister, emphasized their consideration of available water, drinking water needs, expected inflows, and rainfall trends before making any decisions. He stressed that providing water to farmers is their duty, but also highlighted the government's responsibility to safeguard drinking water. Srihari argued against releasing all available water at once, warning that this could lead to a drinking water crisis in the months ahead.

He assured farmers that the government is ready to release water in phases once inflows improve and urged them not to panic.
