Teachers’ council develops AI-powered lesson tool for Nigerian schools

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is creating an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered lesson system aimed at modernizing teaching practices and raising professional standards across the country. The initiative involves developing standardized lesson plans in collaboration with teachers from public and private schools located in Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.

TRCN's Registrar, Dr Ronke Soyombo, informed that these lesson plans serve as the foundation for an AI-powered system capable of generating classroom materials. Soyombo emphasized that AI should support teaching, not replace teachers, and would assist educators with lesson preparation and differentiated instruction. GMind Academy, led by co-founder and CEO Dr Success Ojo, has offered to train 774 AI Adoption Specialists free of charge.

These specialists will serve as local AI champions, aiding teachers, schools, and other education stakeholders in understanding and responsibly implementing AI in teaching, learning, and school administration. The partnership aims to expand AI training for teachers through GMind Academy's Certified AI-Ready Teacher programme, which equips educators with AI skills for teaching, learning, assessment, and productivity, as well as responsible technology adoption.
