Starker Preisanstieg: Frankreich weitet Tankhilfen für Berufstätige und Firmen aus

Paris - In response to the sharp increase in fuel prices due to tensions in the Middle East, France is expanding its subsidies for working individuals and certain sectors of the economy. The €100 grant for working individuals who rely on cars to commute to their jobs will continue to be paid out from October to December, announced the Parisian government.

The income threshold for accessing the grant has been raised, allowing an additional 2.5 million people to apply, up from 3 million. Moreover, care workers who drive to their patients will also receive a subsidy. France has previously announced the extension of fuel subsidies to agriculture, construction, and fishing until the end of the year.

Companies can also provide tax-free fuel allowances to their employees of up to €1,000 per year, according to the government. Additionally, the yearly income-based energy stipend for low-income households will be paid out again in January, not in April as usual, to coincide with the heating period. "We are aware that the situation is very difficult for our citizens," said France's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Roland Lescure.

The fuel subsidies aim to assist low-income individuals, support the economy, and prevent the household budget from being completely destabilized. Overall, the assistance amounts to €450 million.
