Skinner shines as Winnipeg Jets dump Colorado 3-1 in preseason tilt

In a preseason game, the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-1. Stuart Skinner made 29 saves in the victory. The Jets' first scoring opportunity came in the first period, when Vlad Namestnikov passed to Isak Rosen, who then found Gabriel Vilardi for a one-timer that went in past Scott Wedgewood. The Jets dominated the opening period, outshooting Colorado 9-4.

In the second period, the Avalanche had a power play, but their chances were limited due to a lack of NHL talent. Skinner stopped Logan O'Connor's breakaway shot, denying the Avs a goal. The Jets seized their next opportunity with under a minute remaining in the second period, with Koepke finding Josh Morrissey who then passed the puck to Mark Scheifele and finally to Cole Perfetti for a tap-in.

The Jets led 2-0 at the end of the period, going into the third with a 2-goal advantage. Colorado managed to score once with 13:51 left in the period, but Skinner was disallowed a point shot due to what he claimed was goalie interference. With 5:26 remaining in the third, Georgii Merkulov scored the final goal to give the Jets a 3-1 win.

Colorado pulled their goalie to get a 6-on-4 advantage with two minutes and 39 seconds left, but the Jets managed to hold on for the win.
