'SICK conspiracy': Trump dismisses calls to rein in AI as his sons cash in on AI-linked defence and tech investments

On Sep 22, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would begin referring to artificial intelligence as "superintelligence" in official communications. This rebranding came as world leaders grappled with how to regulate the rapidly advancing technology after instances of it operating beyond human control and warnings from company insiders sparked global alarm.

Trump firmly rejected calls for international supervision of AI, dismissing such proposals as a "globalist scheme" to control the technology. He noted that every major technological advancement presents challenges, and superintelligence was no different. The President's stance on AI regulation was echoed by leaders of more than 20 European countries who called for binding safety measures during the UN General Assembly. However, China and the US, the world's leading AI superpowers, did not endorse the idea.
