#SHOWBIZ: KATSEYE members unfollow Ed Sheeran amid Macklemore tour controversy

Los Angeles, Aug 15 - Members of pop group KATSEYE have reportedly unfollowed Ed Sheeran on Instagram as controversy surrounds the removal of rapper Macklemore from the singer's US Loop tour. The band's members Manon, Daniela, Lara, Megan, and Yoonchae ceased following Sheeran, with Lara liking a post Macklemore shared after his dismissal from the tour and subsequently following the rapper.

The dispute arose when Macklemore expressed support for Palestinians during his opening performance in New Jersey on September 5. Tour promoter Messina Touring Group subsequently declared that Macklemore would no longer perform at any remaining US shows. Macklemore clarified that neither he nor Sheeran were victims, stating that Sheeran's typically apolitical stance had been tested unlike ever before.

Sheeran, who co-wrote KATSEYE's lead single Animal from the group's third EP released in July, has a close relationship with the band. Despite the decision to unfollow Sheeran, fans remain divided, with some calling for the removal of Animal from the group's future live setlists due to his involvement in the track. High-profile figures including Greta Thunberg and celebrities Zara Larsson, Florence Pugh, and Nicola Coughlan have shown support for Macklemore's stance on social media.
