Shooter opens fire near high school in Turkey, wounding at least 11

A gunman opened fire on Tuesday near a vocational and technical high school in the Turgutlu district of Turkey's Manisa province, injuring at least 11 people, according to officials. Suspected attacker was arrested. At least two victims were reported in serious condition, Justice Minister Akin Gurlek stated on X. The incident occurred in front of the school, with police and medical teams dispatched to the scene promptly.

HaberTurk news channel reported the suspect to be a 15-year-old student who brought a shotgun from his grandmother's house and fired randomly before attempting to escape on foot. The motive behind the attack remains unknown, with Justice Minister Gurlek acknowledging the involvement of two chief prosecutors in the investigation.

The gun used in the shooting was reportedly obtained from the assailant's grandfather, and both the parents and grandfather were taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation. Security camera footage captured the events leading up to the shooting.
