Sheikh Tamim calls for diplomacy, dialogue and condemns Gaza genocide at UNGA

During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Qatar Foundation hosted a global dialogue at Goals House in New York's Central Park. The event, titled "Tradition Meets Tomorrow," aimed to explore how traditional knowledge, cultural identity, and local wisdom can be utilized to tackle pressing global challenges. The discussions at the event, which was modeled after the traditional Qatari majlis, covered a range of topics including sustainability, urban development, and education.

Qatar Foundation's Manager of Strategic Curation, Sheikha Aisha Hassan Al-Thani, emphasized that progress should be seen as cyclical, drawing on heritage to address contemporary issues. The conversation also delved into the role of heritage in shaping future cities and sustainability, with experts discussing the potential of traditional approaches to climate change.

Dr. Samie Kayani of Earthna highlighted their work in building on Qatar's heritage and demonstrated how traditional knowledge could be applied in innovative ways to address local needs.

The event also addressed the role of education in preserving cultural identity while preparing young people for a rapidly changing world. Speakers from QF's Pre-University Education and other value-based schools highlighted the importance of values-based education that is both culturally relevant and responsive to contemporary challenges. Participants agreed that traditional knowledge, values, and heritage are not obstacles to progress but essential components of innovative and forward-thinking solutions.
