Saudi Arabia, Pakistan sign visa-waiver agreement for diplomatic passport holders

Diplomatic passport holders from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan will no longer be required to obtain short-term visas for travel between the two nations. This new visa waiver agreement was signed during a meeting between Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar at the 81st United Nations General Assembly session in Dubai.

The primary objectives of the agreement are to simplify travel procedures, enhance coordination, and foster cooperation between the two countries. The leaders also discussed regional developments and explored means of mitigating tensions and resolving disputes through diplomacy. The signing of this agreement underscores the strengthening of ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan across various domains, including diplomacy, economics, and security.

In recent years, the two countries have taken significant steps to deepen their relationship. In September 2025, they signed a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement, further solidifying their defense cooperation. Additionally, in August 2026, they joined Turkey in the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, reinforcing their collective security stance.

Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan also signed a defense and military cooperation agreement, and Saudi Arabia’s air force contingent arrived in Saudi Arabia as part of a defense pact. Moreover, the two nations have launched an economic cooperation framework to bolster their commercial ties.
