Sanitation Committee impressed with Zoomlion IRECOP’s progress in Oti region

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Sanitation and Water Resources has commended Zoomlion Ghana Limited's progress in constructing the Integrated Recycling and Compost Plant (IRECOP) at Yabram, Dambai, in the Oti Region. Chairperson John Oti Bless urged the government and stakeholders to support such initiatives towards achieving a cleaner Ghana.

Despite the facility being relatively new, development work, including fencing completion, is ongoing. Oti Bless highlighted Rwanda's sanitation achievements, emphasizing the need for clear rules and public compliance. He emphasized that Assembly-level bye-laws and enforcement are crucial to overcoming sanitation challenges, particularly indiscriminate waste disposal.

The Committee praised private waste management service providers, particularly Zoomlion Ghana, for their contribution to sanitation in Ghana. The committee's monitoring journey continues to other regions, including Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, Ashanti, and Eastern Regions. The Committee also encouraged media to educate the public on proper sanitation practices and the importance of clean communities.
