Residents evacuated after landslide near apartment in Cheras

Residents of an apartment block in Bandar Damai Perdana, Cheras, were instructed to vacate their homes on Wednesday night after a landslide occurred near the building, potentially due to an underground water leak. The Selangor fire and rescue department's assistant operations director, Ashrul Riezal Asbar, informed the public that residents near Block A of the complex were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The department received an emergency call at 9.03pm regarding the incident and dispatched a team of five personnel in a fire engine from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn fire and rescue station. The rescue team arrived at the scene eight minutes later and found a landslide involving a 4.57-meter-high slope, which had displaced the soil by approximately 0.91 meters.

Ashrul stated that while water was still flowing in the area, no further soil movement had been observed by the rescue team. Monitoring of the soil condition and water flow is ongoing, and no casualties or injuries were reported. The public works department has been notified to take further action.
