Rani Mukerji's Mother Krishna Mukerji Passes Away; When Actress' Mom Spoke About Her Daughter Getting National Award For Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, 'Got It Very Late'

Tragic news has emerged that Rani Mukerji's mother, Krishna Mukerji, has passed away at the age of 75. The actress had shared a deep bond with her mother, often speaking about her in interviews. In 2022, Rani had been awarded a National Award for her role in Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway. During Durga Puja celebrations, Krishna had lauded her daughter's achievement, stating that though she was pleased, she believed her daughter should have received the award for her earlier film Black.

Rani expressed her happiness regarding the award, but admitted it had come late in her career, 30 years after she had first considered acting. She credited her mother for encouraging her to explore acting when she was just 18 years old, leading to her debut in Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat in 1997. YRF, Rani's production house, released a statement conveying their grief and requesting privacy during this difficult time.

Rani was most recently seen in Mardaani 3, which performed well at the box office. Her upcoming film, King, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is scheduled for release on December 24, 2026.
