Probe sought into alleged secrecy over Assembly panel’s visit to Aralam farm

Adivasi Dalit Munnetta Samithi president Sreeraman Koyyon has requested an inquiry into alleged secrecy surrounding the Kerala Legislative Assembly Assurance Committee's visit to the Aralam farm rehabilitation area. Koyyon claims the visit and assessment of issues related to the construction of the elephant proof wall were deliberately kept confidential to obstruct discussions on tribal rehabilitation corruption and deaths in elephant attacks.

The Adivasi Dalit Munnetta Samithi leader alleges that certain officials, including an officer serving as the Tribal Rehabilitation Development Mission (TRDM) site manager and senior staff from the Aralam Farming Corporation, orchestrated the secrecy. Koyyon asserts that the latter facilitated private entities and individuals in leasing tribal land from Aralam farm and using lease agreements to secure loans from scheduled banks.

Furthermore, Koyyon contends that MLAs from both ruling and opposition parties attempted to portray the committee's visit as a private one, describing it as a betrayal of the tribal community. In a complaint submitted to the Assembly Speaker, Koyyon seeks action against officials accused of concealing information about the committee's visit and demands an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the visit.
