Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs participates in coordination meeting of Group of Eight Arab-Islamic States on Gaza

In New York City, the Minister of State for the Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, took part in a ministerial gathering alongside the Qatar, Mexico, Norway and Switzerland. The discussion was held during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, focusing on bolstering collaboration in preventive diplomacy, mediation and conflict resolution efforts.

During his address, the Saudi minister acknowledged the current era of intensifying geopolitical tensions and escalating armed conflicts, highlighting the critical role of mediation by all parties involved. He emphasized the shared dedication of the four nations to the United Nations Charter and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

His Excellency also acknowledged the Group of Friends of Mediation, co-chaired by Turkey and Finland, for their role in supporting the UN's mission of conflict prevention. Qatar has a history of mediating in various situations worldwide, from securing hostage releases to resolving conflicts, negotiating political settlements, and facilitating diplomatic understandings across every continent.

In the current scenario, Dr. Al Khulaifi mentioned that Qatar is currently working with Pakistan to ease tensions between Iran and the United States, protect freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and foster peace and stability in the region.
