Pakistan envoy praises HH the Amir's 'timely, courageous message'

Pakistan's ambassador to Qatar, Muhammad Aamer, commended His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani's UN General Assembly address as both timely and courageous. He described the speech as precisely on message, stating it provided a clear diplomatic path out of the regional crisis. The envoy highlighted the Amir's focus on dialogue, negotiation, and mediation, asserting these principles were crucial in a tense Gulf region.

Aamer emphasized that time alone does not resolve conflicts; it often exacerbates their consequences. He specifically praised the Amir's calls to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, resume negotiations, and establish a regional security system based on sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference. Qatar's reputation as a trusted mediator was underscored by the ambassador's assertion that the Amir's call for diplomacy carried weight.

Regarding Palestine, the envoy lauded the Amir's characterization of Gaza events as genocide, recognizing it as a moment of moral clarity. Both Pakistan and Qatar support an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and demand Israel fully adhere to ceasefire commitments, withdraw from Gaza, lift the blockade, and facilitate unhindered humanitarian access.

Islamabad echoed Doha's stance that disputes must be resolved through dialogue based on international law, including for states like Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. The envoy also highlighted shared concerns over the economic impact of the Gulf crisis, acknowledging that energy as a tool of pressure harms civilians.

Pakistan deeply feels this impact, Aamer noted. The ambassador affirmed Qatar and Pakistan's alignment on core peace principles and their joint endorsement of the Amir's call for equal application of international law. He concluded by praising the Amir's call for steadfastness and flexibility, stating that his message of dialogue as the path to a win-win outcome was exactly what the troubled region needed to hear.
