Ole Miss turning LSU win into serious recruiting momentum

Ole Miss has turned LSU's recent victory into a significant recruiting advantage, as evidenced by a series of commitments from highly-rated prospects in the 2028 cycle. Winder (Ga.) Barrow safety Giovanni Tuggle, ranked 63rd overall and 4th among safeties in the junior class, was in Oxford over the weekend to witness Ole Miss' 45-28 triumph over LSU. Impressed by the atmosphere and the team's performance, Tuggle announced on Tuesday that he will commit to the Rebels.

Tuggle described his newfound connection to Ole Miss, stating that "it just felt like home to me." This is his third visit to the campus, with his first being a game day experience. He praised the coaching staff, particularly the defensive coach, and commended their integrity as individuals.

Adding to Ole Miss' momentum, Brentwood Academy (Tenn.) safet y Braylen Bedford, the No. 6 prospect in the class and overall ranked 6th, sealed his commitment after watching Ole Miss defeat LSU as well. The addition of these top-tier blue-chip safeties bolsters Ole Miss' 2028 recruiting class, alongside Hattiesburg (Miss.) defensive lineman Antavion Allen, who committed last month. Allen ranks 78th overall, 11th among defensive linemen, and is the top-ranked junior recruit in Mississippi.

With this triumvirate of top-tier talent, Ole Miss has firmly established itself within the top five in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings for the 2028 cycle. While this achievement is still in its early stages, the SEC program has made a significant splash in recruiting almost immediately following their victory against LSU.
