Officers told to ensure error-free electoral roll

K.B. Sivakumar, the Managing Director of KSRTC and observer for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, has directed Shivamogga district officials to ensure an error-free electoral roll. During a review meeting on Tuesday, Mr. Sivakumar discussed the necessary steps to achieve this goal. After examining a draft roll, the administration discovered discrepancies concerning 48,666 voters, including 15,164 names that couldn't be linked to the previous voters' list.

To address these issues, officers should gather the required documents from the affected voters and follow appropriate procedures.

Booth-level officers must meticulously verify the names of deceased individuals, those who have permanently shifted, and those with fake entries, and remove such names according to proper protocols. It is essential for the officers to maintain thorough records and files for each procedure they undertake, Mr. Sivakumar emphasized.

Additionally, the district officials were instructed to conduct awareness campaigns to register fresh voters aged 18 and above, with the understanding that no eligible voter should be left out of the voting list.

Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, Assistant Commissioner H.P.S. Mythri, tahsildars, and other officers attended the meeting.
