Noble Carbon will show how it’s making EV charger installs painless at TechCrunch Disrupt

Noble Carbon, a startup based in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, has created a solution that could make installing EV chargers, heat pumps, and induction stoves simpler and less costly for homeowners. The company's innovative approach involves circuit breakers capable of adjusting electricity delivery to EV chargers in real time, ensuring they can operate effectively even when a home's electrical panel is near capacity.

Electrical panels are typically designed to handle peak usage, which might occur occasionally, such as during holidays when multiple appliances are in use simultaneously. Noble Carbon's smart breakers would enable homeowners to avoid costly main panel upgrades by controlling the power to the three to six largest power-consuming devices in the house.

Co-founder and CEO Jared Lebos developed this technology after encountering rolling blackouts in South Africa, collaborating with co-founder and CTO Andrew Crane to bring the product to life. The installation process for Noble Carbon's breakers is quick, taking less than five minutes, and the technology is currently undergoing evaluation for UL certification, a widely recognized electrical safety standard.

The company currently partners with Eversource, a utility company, to install these breakers in up to 200 multifamily units in Massachusetts.
