Niger miners’ death: Families will get justice – FG vows as probe committee inaugurated

The Federal Government has vowed to ensure justice for the families of 37 arrested miners who died in custody at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced that a 10-member committee has been inaugurated to investigate the incident. The committee, which includes individuals with extensive service to the country, is tasked with uncovering the truth and delivering justice to the deceased's families.

Tunji-Ojo stressed that the president has emphasized the importance of an independent committee, unswayed by any influences or pressures. He thanked the president for his concern and instructed the committee to deliver the "best gift" to the families – justice. The minister urged the committee to ensure that the right actions are taken, vowing to honor the deceased and prevent similar incidents from occurring in Nigeria.
