Nicolò Tresoldi ‘happy’ to be with Germany, Italy still not off the cards

Nicolò Tresoldi, a highly regarded young talent for Belgian club Club Brugge, finds himself caught between two footballing nations: Germany and Italy. At the age of 21, the Italian-born player is being courted by both international squads he can represent. Currently, Tresoldi is content with his position in Germany’s youth system, but he has not ruled out the possibility of playing for Italy in the future.

Tresoldi expressed his pride in wearing the Germany shirt and his enthusiasm for participating in the U-21 EUROs with the national team. After discussing his situation with his club's manager, Jürgen Klopp, Tresoldi felt assured that his future with Germany remained open. Klopp's approach to the conversation was more akin to that of a father discussing matters with his son, rather than a conventional coach-player interaction.

Further discussions were held with Roberto Mancini, Tresoldi's father, who himself carries Italian roots. Born to an Italian father and an Argentine mother of Italian descent, Tresoldi has strong ties to Italy, having been raised there as well. The player made it clear that the door remains open for him to pursue a career with the Italian national team.
