New Fire Vehicles To Boost Emergency Response – CFO

Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, alongside Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak and others, ceremonially unveiled new fire vehicles and equipment at a commissioning event held on September 18, 2026 in Accra. Ntow Sarpong emphasized that the commissioning of these resources demonstrated a commitment to enhancing Ghana's emergency response capabilities and safeguarding lives, properties, and the environment.

She highlighted the growing challenges posed by urbanization, industrialization, increased traffic, commercial activities and emerging technologies, which necessitate a professionally equipped and prepared fire service capable of responding swiftly and efficiently to emergencies. The new vehicles and equipment, part of the Automated Fire Compliance and Safety System (AFCASS), will improve mobility, response times, and operational capabilities, ultimately contributing to the service's ability to save lives and protect properties.

However, Ntow Sarpong stressed that the effectiveness of these assets hinges on the competence, discipline, maintenance culture, and commitment of the personnel who operate them. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister for Interior, led the commissioning of the fleet, emphasizing the government's and partners' dedication to protecting lives and property.

He underscored the GNFS's vital role in Ghana's security and emergency management system and stressed that the effectiveness of the service depends on access to modern equipment, reliable logistics, and operational tools. The minister highlighted how the newly commissioned assets would strengthen the Service's readiness, improve emergency response times, and enhance firefighting and rescue operations, enabling personnel to serve the public with greater efficiency and professionalism.

He urged the GNFS leadership and personnel to ensure proper maintenance and responsible deployment of the assets, and called on Ghanaians to support the Service by observing fire safety regulations, promoting safety awareness, and cooperating with emergency responders.
