NDC gains ex-SGF Babachir, mobilises polling agents

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) welcomed former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, as a member on Tuesday. Lawal joined the opposition party after leaving the African Democratic Congress due to alleged manipulation of its presidential primary. He voiced his support for the NDC's presidential ticket featuring Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Following Lawal's defection, the NDC directed state and local government chairmen to compile and harmonize lists of party agents for the upcoming general elections. The final lists must be submitted to party leadership within two weeks. Lawal, who expressed his decision to join the NDC, stated that any patriotic Nigerian concerned about the country's issues should support the party.

The party's national leader, Seriake Dickson, welcomed Lawal into the NDC, describing him as a skilled political mobiliser and activist with extensive experience in Nigerian politics.
