Motorola Signature 27 is a proper flagship with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

Qualcomm's latest announcements have been accompanied by Motorola's unveiling of the Motorola Signature 27, a true flagship device set to launch before the end of the year. Building upon the Motorola Signature, a pseudo-flagship released earlier this year, the Signature 27 adopts a new naming convention, a striking design, and boasts a robust flagship spec sheet.

While the previous Signature model was powered by Qualcomm's more modest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the Motorola Signature 27 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a cutting-edge chip that packs formidable performance. This is a significant move for Motorola, as the brand has been relatively scarce in utilizing flagship chipsets.

The Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) was the last device to employ a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, but its successor did not upgrade, and other lineups, including the $1,900 Razr Fold, have not surpassed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Motorola promises enhanced on-device AI capabilities, snappy gaming, faster download speeds across various networks, and improved camera performance with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.

To help dissipate heat, the device features an "ArcticMesh" cooling system, which combines a 40% larger vapor chamber with liquid metal, copper mesh, and even a diamond-infused thermal gel. The Motorola Signature 27 is expected to receive seven years of Android OS and security updates. Its eye-catching quad-camera setup on the back includes a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens, though the specifications of the other two lenses have yet to be disclosed.

The device's design pays homage to the iconic Droid Razr of over a decade ago, sporting "Coal Smoke" with a "Tactical Weave" finish or "Capulet Green" with a "brushed textile-inspired" finish. Despite Motorola not revealing a specific release date nor the exact markets where the phone will be launched, the company has stated that the device will debut worldwide in 2026 and has confirmed availability in North America in the "coming months."
