Most CentreBC MLAs rejoin Conservatives as snap provincial election called

Seven legislators from the CentreBC party are returning to the B.C. Conservatives following NDP Leader David Eby's decision to call a snap provincial election on October 24. Eleanor Sturko remains the only CentreBC member who has not rejoined the Conservatives. The Conservatives argue that the election is "cynical" and not what British Columbians desire, but claim it presents the province with a chance for change.

All seven CentreBC legislators who are rejoining the Conservatives were either kicked out or resigned from the main Opposition caucus by former leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay, who resigned on Sunday. Sturko, however, is barred from returning to a party that previously backed the repeal of the human rights code. Eby is positioning the snap election as a critical response to the threat posed by U.S. President Donald Trump and his ongoing trade war, describing it as an "existential moment" for the province.
