MND Local San Miguel de Allende: Art passport, charity events and celebrity sightings

San Miguel de Allende is buzzing with art, charity events, and a celebrity sighting. The city’s art scene is getting a spotlight through the Hidden Studios Art Passport project, launched by local jewelry maker Mariana Diaz. This passport guide highlights lesser-known artists and studios, giving them a chance to be discovered by tourists.

The project kicked off on September 12, with 14 local artists participating, and the guide is available at select hotels, cafes, and restaurants. Artists pay a fee to join the project and receive unique stamps for each studio they visit. Seven artists have already signed up for the second edition of the passport, and more businesses are showing interest.

Meanwhile, the Billy Boots Cup cow-sorting event is set to take place on October 10 at Rancho Sol Dorado, a private ranch community about 6 miles north of San Miguel. This event, organized by the Billy Boots Cup, will benefit Feed the Hungry San Miguel, a nonprofit that provides meals to local schoolchildren. The event features equestrian action, food, drinks, a raffle, and 20 local vendors.

On October 25, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Feed the Hungry San Miguel will host its seventh Walk, Run, Bike for Food Challenge, a charity event aimed at providing over 5,000 nutritious school lunches daily to local and rural communities. Participants can sign up now and enjoy live music, food, and community spirit after the event. Another charity event, the Fashion Feeds runway brunch, is scheduled for November 15 at Live Aqua, offering another opportunity to support the organization's cause.

In terms of celebrity sightings, the city has reportedly seen a local bar and restaurant host a celebrity, adding to the excitement in San Miguel de Allende.
