Miri City Mayor’s Awards nominations open until Oct 22

Miri City Mayor Adam Yii announced the opening of nominations for this year's Miri City Mayor's Awards, with the deadline set for October 22 at 5pm. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 6 at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club. Mayor Yii invited the public to nominate individuals and organizations who have made a substantial difference to the city, across 10 award categories.

These categories span various sectors such as Green & Sustainability, Community Well-being, Health & Social Impact, Tourism, Hospitality & City Promotion, Business, Entrepreneurship & Economic Contribution, Innovation, Digital & Smart City, Media, Communications & Digital Influence, Education, Youth & Talent Development, Culture, Arts, Heritage & Sports, Grand Miri City Mayor's Special Award, and Posthumous Recognition.

Yii emphasized that the awards celebrate not only physical development but also the efforts of those who protect the environment, strengthen communities, create economic opportunities, develop young people, promote the city, embrace innovation, preserve culture and heritage, and contribute to others' wellbeing. Nominations can be submitted online or through designated submission arrangements of the Miri City Council (MCC), and should include a clear outline of the nominee's contributions, specific role, beneficiaries, and the impact or results achieved.

Supporting evidence, such as photographs, certificates, official reports, statistics, media coverage, and other relevant documents, are encouraged for assessment and verification purposes. Mayor Yii stressed the importance of providing true and accurate information, noting that the Miri City Council reserves the right to verify the submitted information if necessary.
