Ministry of Commerce and Industry, QDB host workshop on governance, risk management, compliance

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with Qatar Development Bank, recently organized a workshop focusing on governance, risk management, and compliance. Private sector representatives, entrepreneurs, and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) attended the event. The workshop is a joint initiative aimed at raising awareness of the importance of adopting best practices in these areas and fostering an investment environment that promotes business growth and attracts investment.

This, in turn, is expected to contribute to diversifying the national economy, enhancing competitiveness, and ensuring sustainability, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The workshop covered several specialized topics, enabling participants to gain a deeper understanding of governance, risk management, and compliance. It introduced stakeholders to the roles and responsibilities involved, accountability mechanisms, and sound decision-making practices. Participants also learned practical methods for identifying and assessing risks and the key requirements for ensuring SMEs comply with applicable laws and regulations.

The workshop aimed to integrate governance, risk management, and compliance principles into an integrated corporate framework, ultimately enhancing institutional performance and fostering successful, sustainable investment partnerships.

The event is part of a series of ongoing workshops and initiatives by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. These efforts seek to enhance the performance of the private sector and SMEs, promoting higher levels of efficiency, transparency, and sustainability. These initiatives align with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
