KOTA KINABALU (Sept 22): A labourer has been sentenced to 32 years in jail and six strokes of the cane for two charges of rape and physical sexual assault of a minor believed to be his girlfriend, according to the Sessions Court in Kota Kinabalu.
Mohd Ashriff Haikal Samlli, 23, pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted by Judge Monica Linsua. For the first rape charge, Mohd Ashriff received nine years in prison and two strokes of the cane for raping a 15-year-old girl.
