Maharashtra Universities To Hold Student Marathi Literary Conferences Ahead Of 100th Sahitya Sammelan

Maharashtra's Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil has instructed universities to organize one-day Marathi literary conferences for students in the lead-up to the 100th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan. The conferences aim to promote the Marathi language and increase students' interest in literature.

The direction was given during an online meeting with vice-chancellors to discuss preparations for the centenary literary conference. Marathi Language Minister Uday Samant and higher education department officials attended the meeting. The 100th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan will take place in Pune from January 28 to 31, 2027.

Universities have been directed to hold their conferences on different dates to maximize reach and visibility. Meanwhile, Marathi language minister Uday Samant announced a series of programs under the "Abhijat Marathi, Abhiman Marathi" banner, which will be held across universities in October to celebrate Marathi receiving classical-language status.

These programs will kick off at the University of Mumbai on October 3 and continue at various universities including Savitribai Phule Pune University, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Marathi Bhasha University at Riddhapur, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University at Ramtek, Gondwana University, Gadchiroli, Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, and Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik.
