Liguria, Pil previsto in crescita dello 0,8% nel 2026

Liguria is projected to experience a 0.8% growth in GDP in 2026, surpassing the national average by 0.1 percentage points, according to the tenth edition of the Liguria 2030 think tank. This forecast was presented in Rapallo by the Liguria governor, Marco Bucci, alongside Teha group and the Liguria Region. Bucci emphasized ongoing efforts to attract Europe's artificial intelligence and nuclear agency gigafactory to Genoa, while also highlighting the increasing importance of water resources for the region's future.

In 2025, Liguria's exports reached 9.4 billion euros, growing by 10.2% compared to the 3.3% national average, ranking fourth among Italian regions. The employment rate in Liguria increased to 68.8% in 2025, up from the national average of 62.5% and marking a 14,000-strong increase in employed individuals, or a 2.3% growth, compared to the national average's 0.4% growth.

The region also maintains several distinct specializations: it leads Italy in the blue economy with 11% of companies, contributing 14.4% of added value and employing 15.2% of people. In 2025, Liguria ranks second nationally for high-tech export share at 67.5%, compared to the national average of 53.1%. In 2025, tourist arrivals to Liguria reached 5.3 million, the highest ever, up 9.8% from 2019 pre-COVID levels.

International visitors made up 2.6 million arrivals, almost half (49.1%) of all regional tourism traffic, up from 45% in 2016. According to Teha analysis, Ligurian ports handled over 4.2 million TEUs (twenty-foot containers) in 2025, a 3.9% increase from 2024, cementing Liguria's position as the main container gateway in the Italian port system.

Additionally, cruise tourism in Ligurian ports reached about 3.2 million passengers in 2024, a 8.3% increase from the previous year, accounting for roughly 22% of the total national cruise traffic.
