Libode man linked to police officers’ killings shot dead in shoot-out

A 45-year-old man linked to the recent killings of two South African police officers was shot dead during a shootout on Tuesday. The incident occurred in Mpindweni Location, near Libode, in response to a previous ambush of two officers last week. Acting on intelligence, a multidisciplinary police team executed a search warrant at the suspect's home.

When officers entered the residence, the suspect fled, returning fire and ultimately being fatally wounded by police. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police recovered the weapon used in the attack, along with multiple firearms and ammunition. The investigation into last week's ambush remains ongoing as authorities pursue those responsible for the officers' deaths.
